In theory, this show should've been fucking awesome. Drone metal titans OM, playing their At Giza album in front of the Temple of Dendur at the Met? Great idea, if nothing else.
In practice, the sound was terrible - from where I was standing, I could barely hear the bass (the main melodic instrument on At Giza) at any point, and what few melodic elements were able to poke through the echo-chamber-on-steroids effect of the room (mostly VERY minimal synth lines) simply weren't loud enough. A show like this should be damn near deafening; instead I wasn't even compelled to wear my trusty earplugs despite standing less than 20 feet from the band.
So, instead of focusing on how disappointing the actual "music" aspect of this show was, here's a couple more short vid clips starring the backs of peoples' heads, and a bunch of pictures of the Temple of Dendur, poached from various sources (because my pics came out terrible). Better'n nuthin', I suppose.
